Having a hip replacement can be tough on the joint and create lots of scar tissue.
After one month my goal would be to decrease swelling, loosing up muscles, and elimnate any pain from the area.
After one year, I would be working on range of motion, mobility, keeping muscles loose, and scar tissue.

Patients that suffer from Osteoarthritis can truly benefit from massage therapy because their joints have erdoded cartilage and bone spurs and when relaxing the muscles around this area, that takes pain away from the affected joint. Allowing for better range of motion and mobility.

I would positon Betty for optimal comfort, making sure the joints in her hands and the muscles in her legs are not too tender to proceed with massage therapy. It would contradict and cause more inflammation if her joints were in a period of exacerbation. I would communicate and assure my pressure was overall good and relaxing. I would suggest gentle stretches after massage therapy and while at home.

I do not feel the HGH should be used for reasons other than those approved by the FDA. These include deficiences or diseases which the hormone would in turn improve the conditions of. I feel that whenever possible, we as humans should not interrupt our bodies natural cycles. So the idea of this hormone being taken as an anti-aging method, or other unnecessary reasons (especially those not approved by the FDA) is absurd to me. The pros that are when used in the right situations, medical conditions can be improved. The cons include a number of adverse side effects, and also the chance of getting a counterfeit drug. I personally would not take it because as I mentioned previously, I see no need to interfere with my bodies natural processes. The Lord has blessed me enough not to have any medical conditions where I would need the hormone, so I wouldn't use it in that case either.

The controversy surrounding stem cell research is regarding the use of embryonic stem cells and wheter or not this use is ethical. Due to there being a debate on at which stage human life begins, the use of embryonic stem cells is controversial because this ultimately involves the distruction of human embryos.

Positive outcomes that may result from Janet reaching out to Richard are that he may beat his battle with addiction. He may be in better spirits. Sometimes all someone needs is a friend and someone to talk to, that could turn their day, and maybe even their life around. Some negative outcomes may be that Richard becomes a little too dependant on Janet. Richard may need to seek professional help for his addiction problems, rather than just a friend to talk to. I think I would be ok with Richard's request, but weary at the same time. I say this because I wouldn't want Richard's behavior to progress into anything more. Janet might either comply with Richard's request, or turn him away. I think a win-win situation would be talking with Richard for the initial conversation, and during that conversation making it a point to lead him in the direction of professional help, that way he can speak with someone/have a friend who is more equipped to deal with his issues.

Seated massage would be more adventageous than table massage when a client is pregnant, elderly, and/or has physical impairments making it difficult to maneuver to get on the massage table. Chair massage would also be more adventageous at sports events.

I believe a comfortable face rest and arm rests are important. The face rest will allow the client's neck to be placed in alighment with the spine while seated, as well as make the client more comfortable. The arm rests allow the therapist to provide massage to the extremities while also giving the client somewhere to rest their arms.

Cyndi should still partake in the offered chair massage. I believe the full duration of 10 minutes is acceptable. Cyndi will not be able to sit in a massage chair due to being pregnant, so a sturdy regular chair and perhaps some pillows will need to be available for use. I do not think the therapist will need clearnace from Dr. Grayson, as in order to obtain your massage license, the topic of pregnancy is addressed although the therapist may not be certified in pregnancy massage.

When Garrett visited Baila, his pain was subacute. I do think it would be in Garrett's best interest for Baila to discuss her findings with Garrett's doctor before proceeding with treatment, so as to no interfere with any findings the doctor may have. Baila should ensure Garrett is fully assessed again by the doctor before initiating massage. With Baila believing further medical testing is necessary, she should proceed with treatment today until her conclusions are confirmed or refuted wiht Garrett's doctor. Should Garrett still wish to proceed with treatment on his own accord after examination by his doctor, then with Garrett's consent, I believe it would be appropriate for Baila to proceed with treatment. I do not believe Baila should trigger points before Garrett is again assessed by his doctor.
