Chapter 13: Be Cautious of Labels

Posted by Cristy Chuparkoff on April 15, 2019 at 6:10 PM

Delores' client, Natalie, showed up with whisky on her breath and seemingly intoxicated. To make sure there was no misunderstanding, she should complete the intake to make sure that Natalie's behavior was not related to prescription medications or a medical condition. If Natalie was intoxicated, the massage should be rescheduled. If Natalie's behavior was realted to meds or a medical condition, Delores would have to use her best judgement to determine if it was safe to proceed with the massage.

If Delorex showed signs of intoxication and she was an employee, she should be given a warning and sent home immediately, if not let go. Another violation would result in probation or termination, depending on the facility's policies and procedures.
