Because Moxie appeared to have had a seizure for more than 5 minutes, Chantal should call 911. For continuity of care, she should inform emergency services that Moxie has a history of seizures, that she was unusually tired and that she was speaking only in single syllables. She should also mention that Moxie had recently discontinued her seizure medications during her pregnancy and was to remain off the medication until she was finished nursing the baby.
Moxie might feel tired and confused after the seizure, and have no recollection of the event. Chantal should gently place Moxie on the floor and put a cushion or something soft under her head to protect it from hitting the floor. She should also remain with Moxie until the seizure ends, then ask some simple questions in a calm and reassuring voice.
